Graham Sinclair
Being brought up at the heels of his father, Graham has been helping his dad David at discos since he was in the early years of primary school. Having learnt how to cue up 7' single and use most of the disco equipment by the age of 10, he followed David to discos all over the place to discos, usually being more of a hindrance than a help.
Graham started doing discos on his own from the age of 15, usually doing kids parties, or fund raisers for local youth groups, but then as his age increased so did the amount of discos that he did. Having a very eclectic taste in music (we don't think that was an insult) he is able to do just about any sort of disco, from a young kids birthday party, through 18th & 21st birthdays, to weddings and retirements.
For many years Graham was the DJ for the MAD FRIDAY disco in the Royal Hotel in Thurso (MAD FRIDAY is the last Friday before Christmas every year when a lots of works outings happen, and the whole town turns on the party spirit). This was a 10 or 11 hours affair playing to a variety of age groups every sort of music from good old fashioned cheesy Christmas hits, to the modern dance tunes.
Having seen the transition from vinyl to cd, and now to digital music, Graham specialises in the all areas of discos.
David Sinclair
David (aka ARTIC) has been involved with the music scene in Caithness since the mid 1960's. With his background as an electronics engineer, he was called upon by numerous local bands of the times to sort any of their equipment that went faulty (and remember this was back in the days of valve and heavy steam driven speakers) It was generally assumed that if 'Artic couldn't fix it, it ain't worth fixing'. Before getting married and moving away to Edinburgh in 1970, he was roady for local band 'EILEEN & THE TALISMAN', whose young drummer at the time, one ANDY MUNRO from Wick, is now better known to many across Scotland as MR BOOM.
Moving Back to Caithness in the mid 1970's to work at Dounreay, David supplemented his income by starting DYNAMIC SOUNDS (well when you have 2 kids just about to start school, and a third on the way every penny helps!) He did one, if not the first stereo disco in the Highlands not long after that, all be it with a stereo record player with the left and right signals from it going to 2 different amps.
With a musical knowledge that spans Jimmy Shand to Jimmy Hendrix, AC/DC to KT Tunstall, David is able to play any sort of disco, but specialises in disco for over 40's, or theme nights.
